Miss World Philippines 2013 Top Picks, Possible Winners, Official Candidates - Will Megan Young Win The Crown?

This year, it will be a battle of the veterans for Miss World Philippines 2013. But no wonder, a newbie might still snatch the scrown - in the name of the celebrity Megan Lynne Young!


However, competition will be tougher for this Aces and Queens sole bet to win the crown. Pageant enthusiasts didn't expect for some stunners in this year's role of queen wanna-be's.

Some of the expected winners include Miss Slimmer's World Philippines winner Janicel Lubina, which a lot of pageant enthusiasts would love to see in Miss Universe 2014 stage; UP Los Banos alumni Mercegrace Racquel, Binibining Pilipinas former candidates Patricia Lae Ejercitado and Nicole Marable (who faced Janine Tugonon in 2012), Ria Rabajante, KC Cajandig and Zandra Flores (who faced Ariella Arida in 2013).

Flores just came from Top 10 finish at the Mutya ng Pilipinas Asia Pacific 2013 with Vina Openiano, another possible Top 10 finalist in this year's competition. 

Maria Paula Bianca Paz, a stunner from Shamcey Supsup's Binibining Pilipinas 2011 batch, who became 3rd Runner-up at Miss World Philippines 2011 won by Gwendoline Ruais is trying her luck again to become our representative to Indonesia. 

But this year's going to be a great treat as we have very fresh faces such as Bianca Saldua, Samantha Bernardo and Paula Estenzo whom both can make it to the Top 10 Semifinalists.

Earlier today, the 26 Official Candidates have been revealed.

Jonathan Yabut, UP Diliman School of Economics alum, Wins The Apprentice Asia - Results, Winner, Finale Info

MANILA, Philippines – Filipino Jonathan Allen Yabut became the first-ever winner of the reality TV show “The Apprentice Asia”, topping 11 other contestants in the contest that stakes a job under business mogul Tony Fernandes.
Yabut emerged the winner after edging co-finalist Andrea Lo of Singapore in the contest’s final task, which is to spearhead a black-tie fundraiser for the AirAsia Foundation in Kuala Lumpur. It was aired as the show’s season-ending 11th episode.
Fernandes is the chief executive officer of AirAsia.
In winning the contest, Yabut, an Economics graduate from the University of the Philippines, secured for himself a one-year contract to work for AirAsia.
He and Celina Le Neindre were among the two Filipino contestants in the show.
“The Apprentice Asia,” which tests the contestants’ marketing and sales savvy, made its debut episode last May 22. - ABS-CBN News

The Voice of the Philippines Results - Who Won The Battles? - Top 24 The Voice Philippines Finalists

Now that the The Voice of the Philippines Blind Auditions has come to an end, it is now time to cut the Top 52 singers.

The Battles pits two or three acts against each other. Ultimately, the coach will decide who wins The Battles for each round.

Here, you would find The Voice of the Philippines The Battles Results that ultimately lead us to the Top 24 Finalists, six from each team.


Week 1 (July 27-28, 2013)

Lee Grane vs Dan Billona

The Battles Winner: Lee Grane Maranan

COMMENT: Lee Grane did very well, registering on the low side of the song. Dan probably took the stage because he has the higher vocal range. He had prominence in the male song. Lee was challenged, she's out of the comfort zone. I still believe Lee Grane did very well.

Song: No More Tears by Donna Summer/Barbra Streisand
The Battles Winner: Morrisette Amon

COMMENT: Definitely, a diva face-off. But there's only one slot for their kind. Morrisette clearly has power in her voice. Lecelle has a great voice, but it's a little bit lower than Amon's. Lecelle's thick voice didn't match Amon's very distinct and high vocal range. Lecelle reminds me of Kyla. Amon has a commanding stage presence.

Update: In one of the most controversial decisions of the season yet, favorite Lee Grane Maranan was paired with Dan Billano, who did much from expected. In the end, The Battles between the two trended on Twitter when Lee Grane won over Dan Billano, from Team Bamboo.

Bamboo chose One from Irish rock band U2 for the Battles. As this song was originally sang by a man, Lee Grane find it hard to cope with the concept of the song. Joey Ayala and Lea liked Dan but in the end, popularity won over.

Band singers Mitoy Yonting and Chien Berbana face each other for the first The Battles from Team Lea in The Voice of the Philippines.

The Battles: Mitoy Yonting vs. Chien Berbana 
Known as one of the most prominent Pinoy videoke favorite, Mitoy and Chien sang their version of Alone. As expected, the battle between the happy-go-lucky guy and mother went really hard. Chien found it hard to focus during rehearsals.

Bamboo and Sarah favored Mitoy while Apl liked Chien's performance.
In the end, Lea chose Mitoy Yonting over Chien Berbana.

Billy Crawford - Nikki Gil Break-up Video - The Buzz Exclusive Interview (Video)

For the first time, Billy Crawford opened up about his recent breakup with Nikki Gil, his girlfriend of four and a half years.


In an interview on the ABS-CBN entertainment talk show “The Buzz” on Sunday, Crawford denied rumors claiming that there was a “third party” involved in the split, saying that “it all boils down to me.”

He explained, for one, that he “forgot” who he was after nearly 26 years of being in the entertainment industry.

“I’ve been everywhere, and this is the first time I’ve ever felt this way. That’s why I ask everyone, do not blame Nikki. She has no fault. I’m not a perfect guy. I’m not a perfect person. I’ve done some things in my life that I regret. And she, she supported me. She understood. She was there. But I tend to go home by myself,” Crawford told “The Buzz” host Boy Abunda.

“I’m the one who’s completely lost and I’m searching. I asked her this. You know, give me that chance to find myself since it’s very difficult. I tend to hurt her,” he added.

Crawford, who is set to reunite with his parents in the United States on August 3, said he did not want to leave the country without explaining his side.

“That’s why I’m here, because I didn’t want to just leave and not say anything, and then for everybody to attack her (Gil). And for everybody to speculate, to guess, whatever… For some reason, I needed to be with my mom and dad.

“I have to start from scratch. I have to start from… where did I come from? I came from my parents. I need to try and find what was making me happy before, who I was, and I just want to be with my family.”

Crawford evaded questions on whether he has fallen out of love with Gil or if they outgrew each other, only saying that he does not want to be unfair to her.

“I don’t want to continue to hurt her because if I continued with this relationship, in the long run, talagang ‘di na talaga kami magkakatugma eh,” he said. “We don’t seeeye to eye on things. We’re not on the same page anymore.”

 
‘She fought’

Crawford admitted that Gil fought hard to save their relationship, even harder than he did.

“She fought for it,” he said. “I tried, but she really stuck it out, I have to admit. And I’m admitting this because I respect her.”

“I just wasn't there. I wasn't myself,” he added.

Asked if Gil understood why he had to end their nearly five-year relationship, the “It’s Showtime” host said: “No.”

“Mahirap naman na maintindihan ng isang tao ‘yun, eh,” he added.

Crawford went on to explain that he was unable to make her happy during the latter part of their relationship.

“Nasaktan ko siya, and she’s an amazing person,” he said.

Meanwhile, he gave this short message to Gil: “I hope you understand. That’s really all.”

 
Moving on

Meanwhile, Crawford apologized to those who have supported his relationship with Gil for the past four and a half years.

He admitted that he felt the pressure of being half of what used to be “one of the most loved, most ideal couples” in the local entertainment industry.

“Pasensya na kayo ah,” said Crawford, who began to cry. “Sa lahat din ng sumuporta sa relationship namin ni Nikki, I think I can say from the both of us, we really thank you. ‘Cause it did give us strength.”

Asked what he learned from the breakup, he said: “Sometimes, I feel like I’m not good enough. But I learned that importante pala na mahanap mo ‘yung sarili mo muna. I think kung mas maligaya ka, mas medaling magpaligaya ng ibang tao.”

As he tries to move on, Crawford said he is not closing his doors on the possibility that he and Gil will get back together.

KC Concepcion is Darna (Video) in ASAP 18 Opening Number

KC Concepcion took on the role of the Filipino superheroine Darna during the opening number of the ABS-CBN noontime variety show "ASAP 18" on Sunday.


During the number, KC first appeared on stage as an ordinary woman separated from a boy, who turned out to be portraying Narda's brother, Ding.

She then delivered the immortal line, "Ding, ang bato!" and emerged in Darna's iconic red costume.

As Darna, KC had a "fight scene" with a red-haired villain in a green costume portrayed by Iya Villania.

ABS-CBN recently acquired exclusive rights to "Darna," one of Mars Ravelo's popular works. It has yet to choose who will portray the Pinay superhero, but KC, Angel Locsin, Cristine Reyes, Sarah Geronimo and Jessy Mendiola have been considered by many as potential perfect fits for the role.
